hi im new to this so soz if im doin ne thing wrong! i was just wondering if ne1 knew of ne free music download websites? ta muchely

There are loads of legal download sites around now. However just because you pay for somthing does not mean that is definatly legal. Be careful who you pay your hard earned cash to.
The following are legal:

https://www.itunes.com (From Apple. You can still use this on a PC. Uses AAC and not mp3. Mainly 79p per song)
https://www.connect-europe.com (from Sony. Uses ATRAC3 and not mp3. Mainly £1.20 per song)
https://www.napster.com (now legal. Uses WMA and not mp3. about 99p per song)
https://www.bignoisemusic.com (uses WMA and not mp3. About £1 per song)

I've just seen that you wanted free downloads. If you are talking about music that is in or has been in the charts, then you will not be able to download them for free legally (unless you win them through a promotion or something).

u say if i want free recent songs its unlikely to b free....does this mean i cud get any old songs free?? ta v. much!

Has it been in the charts?
If the answer to them is yes to either then most probably you cannot get them legally for free.
This is a very, very simplified explaination (with many holes in), but the impression that I'm getting is that you are wanting to download a track which the person who holds the copyright has not given you permission to.
Do you want to say which track you want? If so I can try to find the cheapest for you. It could even be free .

theres many sites which have free legal music. not many which have hits but they still do have some great songs (from unsigned bands etc) yahoo do them. https://www.soundclick.com also https://www.audiogalaxy.com have some free songs..others you pay for. also check out bands websites as some (like faithless, the streets and also the offspring) offer free downloads of latest singles.
