Hotel in France with kids!

does anyone know of any hotels in France that will allow 2 adults, 2 children and a baby in cot. We are looking to stop over on way to holiday but cannot find anywhere that will allow us to all stay together.

Thanks

    Hi,

Whereabouts are you looking to stay? We've had this same issue and it's tricky isn't it? If you say where you're wanting to do a stopover, others might have some ideas for you.

Try Ibis. Most have family rooms which you can book direct via fax/email.

Some let you book online, but if you find they don't allow a second child, fax or email them.

Would you be taking your own travel cot? Hotel B and B chain ( www.hotel-bb.com ) do family mezzanine rooms, with a double bed 'upstairs' and 2 singles 'downstairs'. In the ones I have been in, there would definitely have been room for a travel cot and you can just check in at a machine, so no probs with the number of people. They are fairly basic but absolutely fine for a stopover. Otherwise, I agree with the Ibis suggestion, or possibly Novotel - you can't book the bigger rooms via the Accor website, which they are both part of, but if you contact the hotel directly you may get a suitable room.
Places like Eurocamp/keycamp/siblu do one-night stopovers at their sites for clients en route to a further destination, not sure if they offer that facility to non-customers.
  • Thanks all for replies. i've tried ibis and novotel and contacted hotels direct but no they won't allow it. I won't be able to take travel cot as we are going with eurocamp to jura mountains and they will provide cot for us. Maybe thinking of staying in Dijon maybe slightly north.

Plan at mo is to stay overnight in England and travel down in one day although with 3 small children it will be a nightmare. Most hotels here will let us stay altogether at least whilst baby is still in cot.

Not ideal i know going that far but we are going to see family and its the only way we can afford to do it and have holiday at same time!!

    Hi again,

Maybe I'm being dim, but whereabouts are you looking to do a stopover? Is Dijon your final destination or is that where you want to do a stopover on your way to somewhere else? I managed to find somewhere for us last year in the end although it was tricky-I don't mind having a search for you again though once I've worked out where you want to stop over. :)

Haha very confused-although it doesn't take much!

We always stay at Premiere Classe - cheap, very clean and with their own en-suite

We've stayed at Marsanny-sud, just south of Dijon and they have rooms with 1 double and 2 singles. The other avantage is that it is on an estate with a hypermarket next door and is walking distance to a Hippotamus restaurant an McDonalds for tea - not quite haute cuisine but works with the kids :D

Most of the tour operators like Eurocamp offer overnight stopovers in a mobile home at one of their other sites, have you asked Eurocamp themselves if they can sort it out for you? Here's the link for Eurocamp- they say that they do campsite and hotel stopovers:

  • Yes looking to stopover in Reims or Dijon - ish! We are going down by Geneva. eurocamp have told us that none of the hotels they use for stopovers allow 5 in a room. There are no sites near the route we are going so that would not work. It's just so complicated!!

    Hi again,

I've had a search for you as promised (despite being the only one not thanked for my replies!;))

Bonsai hotel Dijon and hotel republique Dijon both have a family room that caters for your numbers, so if you google them and ask, they may be able to help. They both mention they have cots (lit bebe) available too.

Let us know how you get on and I'll search some more if they are no good or you.

The other alternative would be to look for a gite d'etape on the gites de France site - available in English as well as French, (sorry if this sounds patronising, but you didn't say if you spoke French fluently)

These are gites which are intended as stopover points, and many of them do have family rooms.
It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be
