Duo processor, a gig of RAM, DVD Writer, Wireless, 15.4" screen, 1 years warranty and 120Gb disk for £589 delivered.
It's a good deal.
I bought the cheaper Dell Inspiron 1300 back in February, very pleased, good build quality and no problems.0 -
Dell do special offers every Thursday and every weekend, and you could spend your whole life waiting for the perfect deal
I have bought 5 Dell PCs to date, and have been really pleased with all of them, but you can be sure it will come up cheaper shortly after you've bought it
Thanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
It's a great deal if you need that kind of spec

I bought the cheapie Inspiron 1300 with a great deal of hesitation (I belonged to the "Dell Hater" crowd).
Will never look back, love it
Wouldn't buy one of their desktops, but as far as laptops go they are excellent both for quality and value.0 -
I ordered one a couple of days ago as it is a pretty good offer. Just to clarify the price is currently £619 including VAT and half price shipping (offer period until 9/8/2006). The £589 excludes shipping. I did alot of research at the time and could not find a core duo laptop approaching this specification at anywhere near this price."I hear and I forget. The first question you need to answer is..
Did you have a budget (i.e. £600) and tried to find the best laptop for the money? Or did you have a minimum spec that you require?
If you only intend to use it for basic things (net, word etc) then you could probably drop spec and moneysave
Be nice0 -
Forgot about that TARGA laptop in Lidl actually.
TBH I'd need to see it running to tell if I'd be able to use it. It runs at 1280x800 on a 12.1" screen. This laptop runs at 1280x800 on a 15.4" screen. Not sure how it would affect the eyes.
Also there is the issue with all of these unknown brand laptops, where do you buy spare/replacement batteries from?!0 -
I picked up a six thousand series Dell a few months back, and a basic Inspiron for a friend. Mine has the 17" widescreen, his has the 15". All I can say is, his is a perfectly good laptop. Mine is genuinely a desktop in a laptop case. I may be old (46!) but I like a screen I can work on, and a sensible size keyboard, and the 17" Dell has both of those. Best deal I ever got (and I got three of those £188 Dells a couple of years back; all of which are still going strong).

Oh!
I am sorry, I'm in Scotland and the Lidl stores here have a 12.1" one in at the moment, Targa, for £499.
Similar (almost identical) specification
(Well, I didnt read your post that thoroughly, turns out its quite a bit different
