whilst it had its teething problems and still may need some tweaking still feel it was the best way forward.. previewing of a thread is a brilliant option for example, saves me plenty of time now..

Yes, I like the preview thingy as well. Still a little bit nervous of being timed out or whatever though!

I think the colour scheme is really dire though....

Work colleagues with poor eyesight have given up reading and using the site I'm afraid to say. Shame really as there was quite a following....consensus was a dark brown is the best colour for text!

Must admit, I've found myself spending less time on it too....hope it gets a little better and more stable given of course some teething time.

    Well, I love it!

The speed hasn't bothered me as I'm on dial up on an ancient pc, but the general improvements are impressive.

When you think that last Friday we were still on the old site, which even I (on my decrepit pc) found sluggish, and now 7 days later we are here.

    Effectively, we've just moved house:
There is so much to do...... it seems like a mammoth task........ nothing quite as we want it........but eventually it will all get sorted out.

The site is speeding up by the day and many of the new facilities we have are a massive improvement on what we had on the old site. Yes there are still problems, but give the mse team a break. They have been working very very hard to make this transitionary period as user-friendly as they can.

    Just my opinion.

Hiya - could you let me know what you mean by 'the change of colour scheme' and dark brown text.

We've only changed a couple of the back ground colours. The text is still the same black as it always was - what's changed? Are you seeing it differently? What browser are you using?

    Mine fine to

Maybe the other person(s) have selected specific browser overide colours, hence the difference in display.

    Hi....

My earlier reference was a little unclear, apologies. They use IE6.x on pretty much default settings, no OS level schema changes either.

Basically they meant the forum heading threads were hard to see, not the actual posts. The light blue/dark blue mix for read/unread threads does not contrast well to people with poor eyesight.

I think its okay personally, but really could see some of the others squinting at it. They simply could not scan read the threads easily. which is what I was trying to convey. Believe they meant a dark brown or dark red for those threads yet unread, then a blue for those that have been viewed - or vice versa simply to make it stand out clearer and distinguished as the contrast between them both is much better. May look a little odd initially, but for those with poor eyesight its really beneficial...

It was a 5 min chat that came out in passing! Think it stemmed from someone complaining about web sites that dont allow the use of text being resized, eg. Menu View, Text Size - Largest etc.... which I believe is the case here with MSE also, then it went onto the recent upgrade of mse and the colour change was mentioned which I must admit didnt think too much about until I noticed the others...

( And no...there is much hatred towards using the windows accessibility magnifier - its dire! )

I don't remember this being a problem before but searching on 3 letter words isn't allowed. Ie 'Sky' and 'gps'

    Any suggestions?
