Greenhouse Bases

:)Hi All
This year I'm going great guns with developing my veggie plot. Last year I started off with just a couple of raised beds this year we've dug over two huge areas which are ready to go! Just need to get my greenhouse up and running and I'm about there.

I've had an 8ft x 6ft greenhouse in pieces for the past 2yrs (until we knew where we wanted to put it) and finally decided on the best position.

Currently that piece of ground is grass and a bit rooty (used to be a tree there) so what ideas does anyone have for a base?

What would you do? Slabs, Decking, Concrete, or Brick and gravel?

I don't have the metal base for the greenhouse, it had been screwed to a wooden fame which sat on concrete.

If you think it is worth getting a proper metal base any ideas where I can get one for under 50 squid? They're bloomin expensive!

Many Thanks in Advance

I would go with railway sleepers to add height, that and you can screw the base into it for strength.

You need to make sure the base is bigger than the greenhouse, I have concrete, as if you have soil if soon becomes worn out and infected. Don't forget to site it in the sunniest sheltered spot possible nearest to your home, as it is a misery to run to in the winter. 8 x 6 is good starting point, it might be worth seeing if it is possible to add an extension to it for more space. Also you could rest some light weight chicken wire frames to rest along the outside, and grow Ipomea (morning glory) up them as a shade from the Sun.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
