Hi,
We are replacing a old Prima F50 heat only boiler with a worcester boiler. We've had various quotes on each fitter has recommended either a
24KW or 30KW boiler.
Which one should we get?
We live in a modern 4 bed detached house. We've been told a a 24KW will give us over 80BCU. We have been told that the current boiler is 50BCU. The 24KW is a like for like size and would still cope with any extensions we may make in the future. The 30KW boiler would be running at a lower efficiency and is physically bigger in size. So we are a little confused?!
Thanks

I live in a 2 bed flat and have a 28kw worcester boiler. 24kw has not guts. You'll get a much better hot water flow rate from the 30.0

Is this a combi boiler? If it is, almost any size current boiler will heat a modern well-insulated house but the determining factor is the hot water, as with a combi the instantaneous hot water is limited by the boiler size. 24kW will give you a pretty good shower, but be rather slow to fill a bath. If you want to fill a bath quickly or have 2 showers simultaneously then go for 30kW or bigger.
To get the boiler to run on heating at maximum efficiency you might need (some) newer larger radiators.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Good afternoon:not clear from your post if you are replacing your heat only boiler with another heat only or a combi. If the latter, a 30 kW combi as an absolute minimum and if the former, couldn't say..depends on the specific requirements/characteristics of your property...try the boiler sizing tool on the EST or Sedbuk websites for further info or the HHIC.

We just bought a New Build (March 2010) with an 'Ideal' Combi, plumber said it was 28kW. We have 2 large (for a new build) double radiators, 8 singles and 2 mini's and it keeps all radiators hot if we want them to be. We also have a powershower on the 3rd floor (boiler on ground in kitchen) and it gives you a good blast in the morning, if that helps0
