Want to change bank account but worried about wages.

I want change my bank account.
Work constantly don't pay me right (even though i earn the same every week).
I'm always waiting for back pay etc.
So therefore I'm worried if change bank work will continue to pay into the old account.
How long does your old account stay open for after the transfer?
What will happen if work pay into the closed account after switching?

Why not open the new account, but do the admin for just your work pay. Then when you see they've got it rght transfer the rest and close the first account. Or leave it open with a pound or two until you are confident all is sorted.0

I thought if I transfered my account, moving all the Direct Debits etc. It automatically closed the old account?0

If anything like the auto direct debit transfer thing with Nationwide, this doesn't affect your salary being paid in. That'll have to be changed at your employers end IIRC.
I've recently gone through this & i'd advise the following:
Open your new bank account
Give your payroll manager your new bank details
Wait until you see that they're paying into your new account
Once this is confirmed (as in paid into) then transfer the funds & close the old account if you want it closed.
That's what i did (except i left the account live)0
