hi guys newbie here i have been trying to reclaim bank charges from the halifax for almost a year new back and forth with letters with no joy .
during my time where i got hit hard with charges i had to put my self in to an iva
but the bank dont seem to think i was in any hardship the last letter was a shockingly poorly printed letter that looked like it had been copy an pasted from a website
no personal touch no help for a customer of 20years is there any real point in going to Complaining to the Ombudsman
anyone have any help or advice

What did they do when the charges were at their worst?
Did you have priority debt arrears?0 -
they did nothing during the 6 years i recived charge after charge i had priority debt arrears which lead me entering in to an iva
still the bank charged me after i pleaded with them about my situation0 -

Did you approach them and what did they say?
Did you approach your creditors for help as well?
What was the cause of your financial hardship?0 -
i told them i was struggling an i went in to an iva
to deal with my creditors0 -

I hate being harsh but I asked 3 questions.
1) When you told the bank YOU were struggling what did THEY do?
2) Did you contact those people who you owed money because you were struggling?
3) What caused you to struggle?0 -

1 i told them at the start they offered me a new loan to clear all my debts but the repayment figure was still out of my reach
2 spoke to some of my creditor but since i had missed payments i was offerd very little help
3 i had a bad motorbike crash and was unpaid for work for 6months0 -

Point 3 is the start of financial hardship. part 1 is what the bank offered but the next question might be important, did they offer the loan at the time you had had an accident?
part 2 is about priority creditors(rent/mortgage, council tax, utilities).
If you have credit cards then reclaim the charges including the £12.00 ones.0 -
all the cards were defaulted on when i went in the iva can i still claim them back i don't have any statements or account details for them
the offer of the loan was before my accident happened0 -
