Is this damp? Help please

Hi

Just stripped some wallpaper in our new (to us) home and found this.

hqjH-xl3MApfdjnPtmbM0mMQoSpRYzv8GNmF6qFK5wo?feat=directlinkDoes anyone think the darker patches could be damp? The white below the darker patches is the skirting. House is nearly 30 years old. This is the inside skin of an external brick wall (timber framed). And if people think it is damp then anyone got any ideas on what to do next as I'm just about to paint!

Thanks in advance

Given its position I'd be more inclined to think that its someone having been a bit sloppy with the mist coat over the plaster and not quite reached the bottom of the wall. It could also just be something historic. I'd not be being too concerned about it.

Hmmm, judging by the close-up that area of black is about as big as a 5 pence peice

At worst its a tiny bit of mould which got in via the paper edge and fed on the wallpaper paste

Otherwise It it much too small for my eyes to make out

Yip, you're right and their are a few of them not just these, maybe 10 spots.

I think however, given that's it's not serious (it seems) i'll treat it as such.
