The campaign so far

Is anyone else a bit sick of it already? It seems that the only thing either party can do is rubbish the other two parties.

No new ideas, no messages of reform, hope or positivity, just rubbish rubbish rubbish.

I'd hardly call Hamish's regurgitation of headlines a campaign ;)

I love it and find it all very entertaining TV myself, even though I've already made my decision on who to vote for!

Because there is barely a cigarette paper between them on most issues.

The only thing I can guarantee about the election, is that no matter who wins, the policies on anything important moving forwards, (economy, foreign affairs, etc) will be almost identical.

Neither party will implement policies that will tip the economy back into recession.

Neither party will implement policies that will cause another house price crash.

Neither party will make significant changes to foreign policy.

Neither party will be significantly changing the size of the state, or the numbers of people working for the public sector. (a percent or two, a few tens of thousand, perhaps, but nothing significant)

So Rubbish is really all they have left.......

    You missed one out:

Neither Party has a clue how best to get us out of the mess we are in, and are just hoping to get by and pass the problem on in 5 years.

I doubt if the current goverment meant to, most of the time they really do not have a clue.

Personally, I doubt if that is an option either, no matter how much they might want to do just that.

No island is an island these days, so those beyond these shores will increasingly influence things here, in Never-Never Land, rather more than politicians would prefer. Put it another way, if the UK was a horse, would you put money on it?

Annoyingly, we have loads of good, skilled people in this country, and also a fat rump of those who hold us back. I honestly believe that if a party came out and said it was going to kick that @rse, and then followed through, we'd be in with a chance. Not only that, but politics itself might also begin to interest the average Johnny who feels, at best, indifferent, and at worst, stitched-up and betrayed.

Just my opinion, which isn't worth a lot, but it might be, next time around, when folks are really peed-off. Like you, I expect a few more years of vacillating and waffle first.:(

    .

    What a load of spin.

No party is going to do that, but it doesnt mean a party can have polices which indirectly could do that.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I feel very drawn to reading Aristotle & Plato ATM. I see nothing to interest me ATM in current political debate.

However, its now I have to cast my vote.
