I decided to cancel a 10 year guarantee with Dreams within their 45 day cancellation period.
They refunded the £39 fee less £19.99 for a free mattress protector which I had been given when buying the bed. When I objected to this deduction they said that it stated in store on a sign (which I had not seen and which had not been brought to my attention) that you received a free mattress protector with the guarantee. I have since checked and found that there is a (not very large) sign but nothing saying that, if you cancel the guarantee, you have to give back the mattress protector or, if you have used the protector, that they will deduct the cost (£19.99).
I thought the mattress protector and other small "freebies" were just free gifts to achieve the sale - just like say a set of mats for a new car. I had pointed out in the store at the time of buying the bed that one of their other stores had offered free delivery which the store I was considering buying from was not offering.
I don't want major hassle over £19.99 but I feel annoyed and cheated. What are my rights?
