Anyone used www.crazycameras.co.uk?

Hi

Thinking of ordering these 2 way radios from crazycameras.co.uk (for use in North Africa only where gmrs radios are legal) which the website says will be shipped from USA(radios not available in UK), however part of me thinks this website is fake even though they accept credit card payments. For example only £10 shipping fee by DHL from USA and the fact they don't offer any warranties on their products makes me slightly jittery ordering from them. Yes, i know i could claim my money from CC company if they don't deliver the goods but i would rather avoid this company in the first place if they're dodgy. Has anyone ordered from this company before?

Cheers :)

i am going to America soon, if you can find out if any high street retailers sell the radios, I could get them for you and send them when I get home.

A quick search about the website shows this information. Seems to be based in the US and since Jan 2009.

I'll leave it to you to decide whether its legit or not.

I am very suspicious of the Live shoppers on this site: - counter. I think it's just a random number generator to mislead people as to the popularity of the site. Every time you refresh the page you get a totally different number. E.g. one second its 2014, half a second later it can be 2963, then it can drop down to 2100 a second later! It goes up and down like a yoyo.

@pendulum - lol, i see what you mean!

anyone considering using them, may want to read these pages first:

    complaints board

    online petition: Stop CrazyCameras.co.uk

    crazycameras.co.uk - Contact BBC Watchdog

    review centre: Avoid, Avoid, Avoid

    twitter

i could list dozens more, there's just too many to list!

apparantly, as of 4th April 2010, the crazycameras business is up for sale, so perhaps this is not a good time to order?

Thanks for that Jack, will definitely not be ordering from crazycameras!

Torbrex, it seems that Walmart in the States sell the Cobra CXR800 radios for $61.57 but would have to order online and get them shipped to a store near you using my paypal account (i think). PM me your travel dates to USA and i'll see if we can work something out.

    Cheers mate! :)

Beware - I'm led to believe that UK Customs will confiscate these if they find them on you when returning to the UK.

On the face of it that would seem unlikely, but unfortunately the brands that are sold in the US pretty much uniquely identify them as GMRS.

Don't expect UK Customs to be reasonable about this, or to pay any attention to your plea that they are for use in North Africa - Customs & Excise are a law unto themselves, and just love to confiscate things...
  • Hi,

We ordered a camera from Crazy Camera's on 16/3/10 and was informed if 5-7 days until delivery. We also received the confirmation call that many have mentioned. The camera still hasn't arrived despite chasing them via email and phone to cancel only to be told that it was in the shipping queue and therfore could not be cancelled, only returned once delivered. Now the emails to the support@crazycameras.co.uk address are bouncing back. Does any one have any advice??

Thanks - lesson to be learnt here...........
