Are Fund ISA providers totally out of date?

A new ISA year and what are the fund ISA options available for the online investor? I mean all those funds wanting our money? Well there is
M&G
Fidelity
L&G sort off
and that seems to be about it
The others, bless them, want you to apply for and fill in forms!
So don't throw out that quill or let carrier pigeon escape.

Or you could go through someone like Hargreaves Lansdown and get thousands of funds from hundreds of providers (including the ones which usually require you to fill in forms).

Looks to be modelled on Fidelity to some extent, though maybe a little cheaper eg lower initial fees. When starting out, is the 3,000 upfront necessary when opting for monthly investments? Is this a quality service in practice?

If you opt for monthly investments then all you need is £50 a month.

I highly recommend H-L as a fund supermarket. I used to be with Fidelity, but they offered less funds and had higher charges.

I would suggest that you disregard the ramping of different funds that H-L are somewhat infamous for.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

charles schwab - less said the better
DLJdirect - taken over by inferior tdw
Egg - abondoned their stocks and shares ISA
    Abbey ditto
L&G got rid of supermarket part for competitors' funds
Let's hope HL is stable and will stay the course!
    Thanks for the advice

Well, they've worked for me for nearly 4 years, so if they go belly up now I'll be after you for ruining a good thing!

L&G are in bed with Cofunds.

It's current model isn't compliant with RDR guidelines coming in 2012. So, it will have to change to reflect that. Plus, the FSA is currently reviewing platforms with a view to making charges explicit and put an end to marketing bonuses. So, you should expect the charges at HL to change as they already are with other platforms. Some will be quicker than others.

It does seem to take HL a while to do deals...your in limbo for ages..first PENDING then TRADING....why the delay? Is there the same delay with selling as well as buying funds?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Funds have specific dealing times. Some may not even deal daily.
