This weekend - train ticket help please
Hi there
I'm such an infrequent train traveller that I'm not really sure what I'm doing. I know I've left it late but would like to get the best deal I can...
Wanting to travel from Oxenholme (or Kendal) to Euston (or anywhere really, but ultimately trying to get to somewhere near Hyde Park)...
Party consists of myself, my wife and our two boys (aged 4 and 5) and we have a family railcard which we're hoping to use for the first time.
I'm looking to depart on Saturday or Sunday, stay for 3 nights and then return. I'm completely flexible on times.
I've looked at nationalrail.co.uk and the best total price I could seem to find was £196 (am I right in thinking the 4-year-old travels for free??? - it only seemed to ask for children aged 5-15...). Is this a good price or can I be doing better...? It certainly doesn't feel 'cheap' but I know I've left it late...
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

The fare BTW is available on virtually all trains not just one specific train0 -
I'd like to reiterate alanrowell's posting: if you want to save money don't use the thetrainline.com - there's no benefit. They charge individuals a £1 booking fee for all transactions plus a further £3.50 if paying by credit card (no charge for using a debit card).
Start with Virgin Trains' web site as they operate services on the route you're travelling and may have special offers. Also try splitting tickets at Crewe.0
