Best Value Fitted Wardrobes?

Hi,

Moving into a new house soon and want to go some fitted floor to ceiling wardrobes in the master bedroom. Like the sliding door ones and want to have shelves, draws and lots of rails for clothes. Been to the usual Norwood Interiors type places who design, supply and fit and cost for standard we like looks to be around £3-4k. Anyone know of a way of getting a similar standard at less cost? We live in Leeds by the way if that makes a difference...

Thanks

I would suggest getting a joiner in to quote for building some up "on site".
A lot of showrooms have some very nice looking and well fitting units, but they are obviously in a purpose built envoironment.Go home to your bedroom where your walls are almost guaranteed to be out of square, then they dont look quite so "fitted".A joiner can account for this while building them for you.
  • Hi
We live in Manchester, and we went to Housing Units of Hollinwood, where they have a display by Hammonds the bedroom manufacturers/fitters.
Excellent quality, competitive price, we made an appointment, designer came to our house, we chose our units, given a date to start, they took about 2.5days to fit and the units comes with a 5yr guarantee.

We've had our units for about 3yrs now, and they look as good as new, I think they were just over £2000. at the time.

    Highly recommended.

Have a look at the Hammond website, and I believe they have an instore display at Pratts Regent Street, Leeds, LS2 7QN

    Hope this helps

Before you take the plunge on fitted wardrobes have a look at the Pax range at Ikea. Good quality, bags of choice and a fraction of the cost of fitted.

We recently ordered ours from Sunwin House which I think is owned by United Co-operatives and is based mainly in west Yorkshire.

They were doing some great deals on fitted wardrobes bed included for £1050 for a good quality (moben I think) and £1500 for the top of the range. These were half price so if you are around the North pop in to one of their stores in Keighley, Skipton and Bradford.

Ours was from the PAX range from Ikea and it's fantastic. Bought it about 18 months ago and still looks as new.

After having a quote from sharps furniture they wanted 4000.00 for build-in wardrobes in our sons bedroom along a 9ft wall and that was for basic white etc and a special offer sign asap deal. Once we got over the shock we went to a local family run business in bedfordshire and had the same made for 1200.00. We choose white thinking it was the cheapest but then changed our mind and went for beech at no extra charge. The service was excellent no hard sell, came out measured up discussed what we wanted and what would look best in the room. Sent detailed plans back to us in days with quote and then spend about 3/4 hours putting it all together at a time convenient to us. So go to a local family business for best service and value for money. Ikea pax looks good but really cannot compare with build-in furniture that is made for a specific room.

This may be a daft question, but have you considered MFI?

My girlfriend is a kitchen/bathroom/bedroom designer, not in Leeds but reasonably close. MFI can always do deals and the quote can be for just supply or including fitting.

They even offer a home measure service. I don't know if that's for bedrooms as well but I guess if you're spending a sizable amount then they will accomodate your every need:D
