Central heating problems

We have a normal boiler ( not combi ) when we try to switch the heating on you can here the system try to kick in but nothing happen , The pilot light stays on through-out.Any help pleeease.

Is it just the central heating that isnt working: have you tried the the hot water on its own, if the hot water works you might have a stuck diverter valve.0

I'm having the same problem, and my diverter valve is stuck! Until i get it fixed i will just override it.0
