  • yes obviously you would have to list the car in the statement of affairs. but do you think you would have grounds to keep the car: is it essential for your work? if not it will be taken as an asset in bankruptcy...

Well my thoughts are obviously the clio will go, ill get a car for about 1k....

I need a car as I work 12 hour shifts for the home office, 7-7 12-12 7-7, 30 miles from home, so a car is essential.
  • sounds like you will have good grounds for exemption then, for a little run around.

  • You said you work for the Home Office...

Before you take any official steps check your contract, I am a civilian Police worker and it's in my contract that bankruptcy will result in immediate dismissal.

Not trying to scare you, hopefully it won't be the case with your job but worth checking first.

    Hi Mike

No practical advice, but wanted to send you and your OH a big hug :grouphug: - I've been following your posts and know how hard you've worked to avoid this situation!

Also, good luck with the interview on Monday - even if it doesn't affect today's decision, its still a positive step forward...

You have all been great. :staradmin

We woke this morning with the same train of thought, knowing what we are doing will be the right thing to do.

Now we even think...Ok we will have a new little car, thats good. If the house has to go then fine, so be it ! we can move back to Liverpool where we love and rent in the city centre! If we loose our jobs, not nice, will be worrying, but we have had no job before, like when we left the pub... there are always jobs.

I know some people here may frown, but we know its right. Everyone who has helped has been fab. Thank you all. Our next thing is the 2/3 month wait whilst we save, shouldnt be too hard, as there is no need to pay anyone anything now is there !

  • Does anybody know where to get the forms etc from, how to make the appointment at court etc?

Ive read the website for the insolvency service, and i know you can apply online, - if you do this does anyone know who gets the details, how do you get the appointment etc etc..

Lastly - Will the OR/Trustee/Judge etc EVER contact your employers ?

    Thanks again.
