Central heating v Electric Fire

I am thinking of redecorating my living room. It is currently heated by a large radiator connected to the gas central heating. I am thinking of removing the radiator which is rather unsightly and replacing it with an attractive electric fire - possibly wall mounted.
Are my running costs to heat the room going to change dramatically if I do this?

Usually the radiator size is calculated to give out a certain amount of heat rated in Btu or kW. if you remove this radiator, you should calculate the heat load of the room and replace with an equivalent size heater....or you will be cold.
As for running costs, heating the room with the radiator on the gas central heating would be three times less money than running an expensive electric heater. There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

Electric Fire is the fourth solo album by Roger Taylor, from the band Queen. It features a cover of John Lennon's song "Working Class Hero".
