Currys - Faulty Washing Machine

Hi, I bought a new washing machine from Currys online on 30th January this year after my old machine died. It cost me £329.
It's been working fine until today, the 30 minute quite wash cycle is taking over an hour, the digital display which shows the amount of time left on the cycle goes haywire when the machine is in use (time goes down as it should then back up again).
I've checked on Currys website and it states that after 28 days, they don't have to offer an exchange but will repair it. I haven't rung them yet but I'm not happy about having to get them to repair a machine that isn't even three months old yet.
If they offer me a reapir, do I have to accept this?
Thanks

Yes you do, they have the choice of repair, replace or refund. However there is no harm in asking is there for another machine.Always ask ACAS0 -
It comes down to what is more economical for the retailer and so long as it doesn't cause a significant inconvenience.0

I have the same thing but with a beko machine, was told by the repair man that the maching is very clever and works out how long it should take and just leave it. I have rang again today as it's still doing it and just leaving it means it goes on for hours. Could you let me know how you get on please. Thanks for any help and advice given

Hi, yours isn't a Beko WM7335W by any chance is it? Checked the receipt and it was £300 in January. That's disgusting! When did you get yours?0 -
Hi,
Mine is a WM6355W and I have been on the phone since getting it. I've had it for 5 months now. When I first got it I got it for the 1500 spin speed as I do not have a tumble dryer. I was doing a small load then having to do a seperate spin to get the spin speed. I made two or three calls then they said they would send someone out to look at it. When he come out I told him about the machine and said that he was only told part of the problem (as there were other issues talked about with the company).
I told him some times the machine could take as long as an hour longer to do than the book stated.
That when changing programmes the little display would not always tell you the same times. EG: Spin only should take 22 mins but some times would show 47 or 55 mins.
I also said that when the machine got down to 3 mins it would then go down to 2 then back up to 3 then down to 2 again, this could carry on for ages in the end I turn it off after 30 mins.
He told me that Beko are very clever machines and they decide how long a wash should take by what you put in them. If it felt it should take longer than the programme stated in the booklet it would. He even showed me a bit in the book saying something along these lines:
the machine will wait for sufficient water to stop poor washing results
time will not count down until the water is the correct temp
the machine has a auto spin correction
all these can change the time a wash will take.
He left telling me to read my bboklet properly.
I am now not getting enough water in the machine since he came and it is still doing the wash programme, so the above about it not washing until it had the correct water level is untrue. I am having him back out next Thursday.
Hope you get your sorted out. Thanks for any help and advice given

Have you tried a baseline test, ie running a full wash cycle with detergent without anything in the machine.0 -
Hi,
I am getting my clothes come out with detergent marks on and am using the same amount, also when it washes now there is only just enough water to get the clothes wet. When ringing the helpline they told me to watch when the wash is going and when the wash cycle is resting I should see water on the door as the water level will rise.
So really just going by this, but this happens even when the load takes a lot longer than it should so if it is taking longer it's not really doing anything. If it was I would have thought it would wash the detergent away. Oh just to add I use the liquid you put in the machine in a ball. Thanks for any help and advice given

Hi Neil,
I have just tried putting the machine on without any clothes. When the water comes in now it comes up to just below the door. The bubbles only just get inside the bottom edge of the door. Hope I have explained this right.
Also sorry op hope you dont mind me asking questions about the same thing on your thread. Thanks for any help and advice given
