I apreciate the comments, but a lot of them do not apply to our house. It is in need of total renovation. It has no boiler or heating, no double glazing etc. It is described as a house in need of renovation and modernising and to be honest I expected a developer to buy it for a knock down and rebuild.
That is why I get angry at people coming to view and saying, "I did not know it needed that much work." It does say that very clearly in the spec.
The problem is we live in a "sought after road" so viewers see that and do not bother to read the rest of the stuff.0 -
I agree there are some people who simply neglect to research - our first viewers were 2 barely out of teenage year girls who wanted to get out as soon as they came in as it wasn't a corner flat and they couldn't stop telling me how "gutted" they were for missing out on a repossessed corner flat that just sold.
On the other hand we went to view few houses we knew we were unlikely to buy - not because we wanted to waste time or didn't do the homework but rather to comfirm the cheaper end of houses in the area isn't upto our requirement. Perhaps its unfaire but if we were proven wrong, we would have considered house in lower end of our budget and opted for a better mortgage (with lower LTV) and move again in a few years.
Sadly to all of them we had to say it wasn't what we were looking for and put an offer in for a house in higher price range.0 -

Sometimes you need to see for yourself, to weigh up what one individual or their agent means by a lot of work. What is a lot of work for some people, isn't that much work other people, and vice-versa. Reap the whirlwind. All part of selling a house.0
