Argos refusing to give me a refund on a mini-fridge

I can confirm that it was for my own personal use, I didn't get reimbursed for it, nor was it paid from expenses. I used my own personal MasterCard to pay for it, and had proof of purchase.
And no, I don't have too much time on my hands - I simply don't like being mis-sold or mis-advised or someone ignoring a pretty easy-to-understand question.
Please don't for one second think that this is some kind of personal crusade against the mighty Argos - it is what it is.
I'd hate to see someone buy something expensive, use it, it develop a fault, and the store refuse to have anything to do with it. A mini fridge is a mini fridge - replaceable; but if we can get this ironed out it might help others who have either been in a similar situation, or prevent it from happening to them in the first instance.0 -

If we took their logic, most of us commuting to work in a car wouldn't have proper insurance because we don't have the "business use" option
Most insurance companies now incorporate driving to and from work into their social, domestic and pleasure policies, some have been doing this for 20 yrs.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

I know, it's called Commuting, and its different from Business use.
Social, Domestic and Pleasure + Commuting is the common option (and it's always been like that for me too).
Commuting is different from Business Use.
My point was, commuting to work in a car isn't business use and insurance companies already separate this and we don't need to pay for "Busniess Use" on our insurance just to drive to work. The comparison is to using something to keep my lunch cool at work - it's not part of the running of the business.0 -

I would suggest not. Its more likely than been an office fridge. Furthermore its no doubt subject to PAT testing etc.
It seems the OP wanted his consumer rights but to use it for a business purpose.
Maybe he could confirm he paid for it, no one else used it and didnt receive any reimbursement from his employer or colleagues?
I dont suppose many people in his work use it to store their grub in it. These fridges are lucky to hold a few cans and a sarnie and thats a push.
The business use excuse from Argos is pathetic. How many people could run a business and make money by using a minifridge!
Selling 1 inch sandwiches is my only guess.0 -
A side note, these Peltier-based mini-fridges have started more than their fare share of fires when left in offices.0
