HELP! The electric board has blown up my house!
Earlier in the week a lorry brought down power lines near my home.
This resulted in a power surge that has destroyed every piece of electronic equipment in my home that was switched on or on standby, ie tv, dvd, freezers, fridges etc etc.
I have contacted my electrical distribution company YEDL and they have told me I have to claim compensation from the insurance company of the Lorry driver.
Is this correct?? As far as I am concerned my contract is with YEDL and it is their equipment that has caused the damage regardless of it's root cause. What if the power lines were too low? What if the driver isn't insured??
Should I disregard that they are telling me claim from them (and let them seek damages from the lorry drivers insurance company?
Your advice is VERY much appreciated!
