Charges claim stayed in court - ombudsman? Need your help!

Can someone help me? I'm totally confoosed.
I have a sizeable claim against First Direct for bank charges - around £5k....
I went through court and had the claim stayed pending the courts decision about the unfairness of charges. I haven't heard anything from the court, but today I got a letter from the bank telling me that since the ruling was in favour of the bank, they considered the matter closed.
If there's another option for me to progress my claim I really want to. It's a lot of money and I don't want to just drop the claim.
Can I go to the Ombudsman?
I was horrendously in debt at the time I ran up al these charges, living off credit card cash withdrawals, unable to meet my outgoings, etc etc so back then I WAS in serious hardship. I'm not now - thanks to frugal living for years, but still!
Also, I believe the charges were totally disproportionate to the amount I went over the OD limit. For example, a charge of £130 for going £30 over the limit - LUDICROUS.
I've checked the article on here about what to do next but I can't make head or tail of what my next steps should be? There seems to be no specific advice about what to do next.
