I have just bought a toyota corrolla verso 2007 with 16000 miles on the clock. the car has full dealership service history and has another 7 months manuf. warranty. As I would like to keep the car for few years, i contacted different toyota dealers for quotes on service plans and the best quotes were:

3 years plan = £531
4 years plan= £720
5 years plan = £850

what people think? shall i go for the 5 years one? but thats a long time and the dealer might not be around by then!!! any advice please?

is it insurance backed as you rightly say will they be around. Likewise if you sell the car is the plan personal to you or the car, can it be transferred to any new car you buy etc.

Can you not offer £500 for the 3 year one and see if they bite?

the 3 years plan includes one major and two minor services, the 4 years includes two major and two minor services and i beleive the 5 years plan includes two major and three minor services.....the policy is transferable if i sell the car...i am just thinking as prices of everything are going up, parts and labour costs will also go up so it is a chance to pay for the next few years services at today prices. also the payment will be spread over the duration of the plan as monthly interest free payments.

£531 is actuall a very good price...i checked 3 other dealers and they all wanted between £650 and £700 for the 3 years plan.

Sam - Toyota appear to offer discounts on servicing for cars over 3 years old - assuming that yours will not be due a service until after its 3rd birthday then you might want to check out their prices for older cars - my local dealership states 20% off labour and 10% of parts rising to 40% off labour and 20% off parts when its 5 years old - factor this in when looking at the overall cost of this offer as if you are comparing it against full service prices then thats not a fair comparison
