hello,
I have a painter that I have used in my current house and last three flats. He charges £10 an hour, gives you a receipt, is meticulous, honest, tidy and reliable. His paintwork is spot on and he spends a lot of time doing prep-filling in woodwork, finishing off walls before letting a lick of paint touch the walls. He doesn't drive so you might have to pick his gear up the first day but he is happy to get the bus to you if you live on a bus route. He can sort out minor plaster issues but for bigger jobs he knows a plasterer you could use. If you are interested pm me and I will give you his phone no.0 -
There are threads on supposedly thermal paint if you run a search - I think here and on the 'Green & Ethical' board. General concensus is that they are a con, at least one website was claiming to be recommended by organisations that had not actually endorsed the product at all.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

A self employed painter (gives receipts) who doesn't drive ?
Doesn't seem right to me, and @£10 p/hr , can't compete with that.0 -
john0612 - what would be normal cost for painter - what time would it take to complete 2 rooms is it normal to look for organisational membership?
mogwai10 - where are you based - is he local to you - is he registered with any trade body?0 -

You'll get a decent tradie from anywhere £15-£20 p/hr from thomsoms local or yellow pages, although there are many people out there willing to work for less i.e the poles etc.
In the 16yrs of being a p&d , i've never used thermalite or warmcoat so i can't really give comment on it.
What exactly are you doing in the rooms? ceiling, cornice, walls, woodwork, doors etc?0 -
Yeah there are a few cracks in the wall from movement over time - would need to be smoothed other with plaster, think not been done in a while - how much paint would need to buy for the area two rooms 11ft x 14ft and 13ft x 14ft and rooms each 10ft tall
i guess £15 an hr wouldnt be too bad just depends how long it takes
not really done anything like this before - is it a day for both rooms 10hrs or 10hrs for each?
woodwork is plain wood not painted - cornice - possibly think may need special paint tho not sure if price shoots up - mainly roof and walls.0
