Talk Talk Direct Debit

Hi
I checked my bank account this morning and discovered that my Talk Talk
direct debit has been cancelled.
My bank has told me that it was cancelled by Talk Talk.
After a bit of googling I found out that the reason for it is due to the stock market flotation of Talk Talk as a seperate company to CPW.
Apparently new DDs are being set up using the name Talk Talk Telecoms
The new DD hasn't appeared on my bank account yet.
I thought that under the DD guarantee you are supposed to be notified of these changes.
I would suggest that any Talk Talk customers check that the new DD is in place before their next bill is due.

Your bank is talking nonsense. Only the account holder can cancel a direct debit, not the payee. All the payee can do is fail to take the direct debit-but it still remains active unless you cancel it.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Been into the bank today. Customer Services showed me the cancelled Direct Debit on their system screen. Adjacent to the entry is the code "C6" this means that the DD was cancelled by Talk Talk if I had cancelled it the code would be "C1".
If you read the following link you will find out that it has happened to other peoples DDs as well.
