Any help with a boiler??

I'm not even sure it's a problem withthe boiler, it's all very strange.
Basically my combi boiler has a portable thermostat which I can carry around the house and change the temp as I go. When the boiler is heating the domestic hot water it flashes D, when it heats the central heating it flashes C and when it's just testing itself (about once every two hours) it flashes T, all other times it shows a 0.
Over the last 3 or so weeks by radiators have been really really hot without the boiler coming on (When the central heating is on you can hear the pump and boile rmakes a small huming noise). I just don't know how the radiators are heating.
I've turn off my timer as the house is relatively ok at the moment but I can feel really warm and go and touch the radiators and they aren't quite boiler but certainly very very warm.
If I run a bath the radiators go boiling, and if the washing machine is on it happens then too. Is this linked anyway?
Any advice greatly received, it's not under an agreement but is due it's service in July. It's 4 years old this July.
Thanks.

You obviously have the dreaded Ideal Isar combi!
T is not 'testing' itself, it is the dhw pre-heat function working.
It sounds as though the diverter valve has stuck mid position and needs replacing. Very, very common on these.
When the boiler is firing for hw pre-heat it is actually sending the heated system water through the rads because of the stuck dv.
There is a kit available to enable the pre-heat to be switched off, but it is ridiculously expensive.0 -

You're a star!!
It is an Ideal Isar - not Ideal then?????
Am I able to buy the diverter valve and do this myself or am I best to get someone in, although I don't have any maintenance agreement on the boiler.......
It's due it's service in July, am I mad to wait until then?............ I have the central heating switched off and the pre-heat only happens every couple of hours to really it's heating the house for a couple minutes worth of boiler time, just it's a bit hot through the night and i'm not in through the day so a waste of heat really - still, the dogs are basking under the radiators:jForty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
There are no gas parts to disturb when replacing the DV, so if you are 'good with your hands' there is no reason not to try it yourself.
There are 2 types of DV on these, so make sure you get the correct one.
The instructions are in the manual and quite good and easy to follow.0 -

No I rent so the landlord got a plumber in(well I got the plumber, the landlord just paid for it)...plus I'm blonde and useless at any kind of DIY
It cost about £100 for parts and labour but I suppose that depends on the boiler. Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

You will need to isolate and drain boiler first. Make sure you protect all and any electrical components.
DON't drain the boiler via the prv.0
