Do you live with the IS claimant?

If they currently receive the Severe Disability Premium, they will lose this now that you are claiming CA.
    Gone ... or have I?

If the person you were claiming for was getting the SDP for that period then you would only have underlying entitlement to CA during the same period. Otherwise you would get paid twice.

Recieved my notice today saying i have been awarded Carers allowence backdated to 21/12/09 BUT will not get paid untill may 10th as they need to inform Income support.

So i rang them and said i dont claim IS, the person i care for does. They seem to think that he may or may not lose some IS and they have an "agreement" with IS to take any overpayment straight from the carers allowence. Which would be fine IF i was on IS

So if he does get his IS reduced SURELY thats for IS to sort any overpay out with him.

I tried to explain that i work part time and also care so im entitled to that money, it is of no relivence to me if there is an IS issue.

What an uncareing person you seem from your post, carers allowance is linked to his IS by the SDP and if he wernt on IS the allowance would be sorted out within a week or two but to limit over payment his IS will be altered the same week that you start to get paid carers and an adjustment will be made to his IS to recover the SDP from the date that you became eligable for carers allowance and you will recieve the full ammount from the date you are awarded it.

Yes we live together, we informed IS we were together and they said it did not effect his money.....BUT we have since found out they made a mistake :( waiting for IS to call me back now within 3 hours. Hopefully they stop his IS now and i can get a payment.

As sunnyone felt the need to chirp about me seeming uncaring i will explain myself...... We claimed together march 21st and everything stopped so i have 3 children and a disabled partner to look after and have had no money for 3 weeks :( very very stressful time in my home at the moment. unfortunatly my wages and partners dla are paid monthly and not due for a few days.

with it being half term and easter its been very tough. Carers and CT/WTC have both said they have recd claims, everythings fine but they have a 3 week timescale to calculate pay.
How much do you earn a week through work?
