I've just had the same, but my lender has asked for proof my dad exists!

We'd already provided a letter to explain the source at the application stage - this included a letter from my father declaring non-interest, bearing, non-repayable gift with him retaining no interest in the property whatsoever. We have had the offer through, and even signed the mortgage deed. Today they've asked for my Father to report to our local solicitors with his passport, utility bill, and bank statement showing the funds being released to me. He'll do it and I'm very grateful but it's rather a imposition - he lives 2 hours away. Luckily my sols are open on Sat mornings.

I don't mind if it is to help them fulfil their money laundering avoidance processes, but if it's just more of their fun and games, used to delay then dump, then I will be very upset.
