Travel Insurance for a baby only?

My wife and I have a joint bank account which provides free travel insurance in europe. Our baby (one year old) is not included on this. For a trip to Holland/Belgium is it worth taking out seperate insurance just for the baby and if so where would be the best place to do this?
Would teh E111 form be enough? He has a British passport, I understand from this, if he got sick/injured we could pay any medical fees and then reclaim them back in the UK. Of course, loss due to theft or travel distruption would not be covered but almost all the posessions will be mine and my wifes so we could claim on our insurance if something was stolen.
Thanks in advance

ave you spoken to the insurers of the policy, under 2 year olds are normally free so can you not get him added ?0

The E111 form has been obsolete for a few years. Does the baby have an EHIC card in his own name as this superseded the E111?
This only entitles the holder to medical treatment the same as residents of the country visited, eg state run hospitals, etc and not private.
It also doesn't cover repatriation should it be necessary.0 -
I don't think the E111 or its replacement the EHIC card allows you to reclaim any costs. It allows for reduced-cost or free medical treatment from state healthcare providers in certain instances. In no way is it a replacement for insurance as there are many things it does not cover.

It would not (for exmaple) cover the costs of an ambulance which is not free in all countries.
It would not covere repatriation to the UK, so if you wanted the baby flown back say in a chartered medical helicopter then that would cost a fortune.
Would also not cover translators or visits from family.
The mum of a friend of mine had a stroke whilst on a cruise.
The insurance paid for a translator so they could understand the medical stuff and also paid for my friend to fly out to a foreign country to see her mum (and also presumably hotel/travel costs).
As others have said would be a mistake to assume you don't need insurance.
I am assuming you wouldn't want to leave a very ill baby in a foreign hospital and go abck home.0 -
Simply call the company who currently cover you. Bank insurance is done through the big boys and it will be easy enough to change aspects of cover.0
