Cheapest option when owning 2 houses

Hi

I have sold my house and move out within the next few weeks to rented accomodation while we renovate the new house we are buying.

We anticipate being in rented for about the next 6 months (Summer low energy use months) while we renovate so do not want to pay over the odds.

In respect of the renovated property, energy useage will be minimal compared with if someone is living there as only the builders will be in and out.

Rather than paying 2 fixed monthly DD's, one for each property I want to try and find the most cost effective way of providing energy. Can anyone make any suggestions.

Thanks

Personally I would sign up to a monthly DD for the place you are renting as this will start to build you up a credit for the winter by which time I am guessing you are planning to move. For the renovation one, I would sign up to the same supplier but on a monthly billed tariff. When you move out of the rented property you can then get them to transfer any credit you have built up onto the new property. I have suggested it this way round because the rental property will have higher useage. You could do it the opposite way round. The advantage of using one supplier is that you can transfer and credit/debit at the end of the rental period.
