Small Claims Court Query (scotland)-pesky builders

hi all,
we had an extension done at our house, basically we have a leaky roof and drainage issues, both of which we have in writing from the builders that they are aware of and will fix.
The builders have vanished, dont answer our calls etc. and despite threats via email and recorded post they are doing nothing about it.
so we now face taking them to small claims court, both problems will cost approx. £3000-£4000ish to sort out,but maximum claim in scotland for small claims is £3000.
my question is can we take them to court twice at the same time?as in one claim for each issue (roof and drainage seperately),or can you just take one action ??
also, has anyone had any experience of small claims and how successful were you?
we have email proof that they have read our emails(read receipts and the occasional response),and we have paper proof from them in the form of a guarantee(not worth paper its written on clearly).
they were on site until october last year, and occasionally to have unsuccessful attempts at fixing the roof(which is a disaster area) up until november.
any help/advice much appreciated,
cheers,
col

Before you go charging in with a lawsuit, are you 100% sure of who you are going after? Is it a Limited company or a soletrader/partnership?

Also, once you know who it is you'll be pursuing. Ask yourself, do they have the capability to pay? If the co or trader has numerous CCJ's there is not much chance of seeing any money...

Sorry i've just realised i have given you more questions and not answered any :)
