Damaged plastic oven trims - urgent help needed please!

I bought a built in single Neff oven from eBay which looked great in the photos, and the seller said was in immaculate condition. Having travelled over two hours to collect it the sellers wife had decided to clean it (very kind) however she dripped the cleaner (was told it was one you use a bag with ? Oven Pride) on the plastic part to which the handle attaches. I managed to negotiate a discount with the seller thinking I could replace the part.
Imagine my horror when the part concerned turned out to cost £130!
I have tried cleaning with Cif, Barkeepers Friend and even Duraglit to no avail. The part is a black plastic and the dribbles of cleaner have eaten into it and taken away the shine.
Please, please does anyone have any suggestions?

Hmm, it sounds like the plastic could be permanently damaged in which case you won't be able to clean it up. You could use the same cleaner to eat into the rest of the handle, giving it a nice matte finish (joking!). Seriously, it's hard to say without being familiar with the specific oven in question. Any pictures you can find?0
