Possible Scam/Fraud

I occasionally get calls for someone with a very similar name to mine - it's a fairly rare surname in the UK, but has a fairly narrow geographic distribution. Quite tricky at first when my dentist, GP and optician are hers as well. What can happen is that the results come in with a name and the person dealing with the calls doesn't doublecheck that there are more than one of that name in the area. The first one on the list gets the call because they didn't spot the 2nd. No scam, just a need to doublecheck things from time to time.
Hence the suggestion for a facebook search.
(mine is Joanne Tightfisted, hers is Janet Tightfisted, my SIL is Jayne Tightfisted, there is a Jane and Jean Tightfisted, all within 3 miles, never mind the John, Jon, Jonathan, Jonathon and Jay Tightfisteds)I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

This couldn't be an illegal immigrant who has "borrowed" your identities to get NHS treatment could it?

The receptionist contacted my mother, and confirmed her date of birth. My Mum recognised her voice on the phone.
The second call was definatly from the doctors surgery, as my mum knows the receptionist, due to it being thier family surgery until NHS regs led to them having to change to a more local one 2 years ago.
I believe it may either be an immigrant who has got a few details and is trying to get free treatment, or an attempt at fraud.
My mum will be monitoring her bank account, and credit record. I am registered with checkmyfile. And my partner is registered with HSBC's fraud monitoring sevice, when we rang them, they said it was an odd one. So we are well covered from that angle.
I too am worried that an admin error may cause someones cancer to go unnoticed. But we have done all we can in confirming they may have made a mistake. Its up to the doctors and NHS to sort that one out.0 -

No . Absloutely not. It just seems to me the only logical answer to this. Don't tell me that I'm the only person that accepts that there are illegal immigrants in this country and doesn't read the Daily Mail.
My comment was somewhat meant in jest but I just found it funny cause that's exactly what my Nana would have thought and she lived by the Daily Mail

Sorry. I know what you mean. My Dad started reading the Daily Mail and believed all of the rubbish that was written in it. Every time I saw him he was outraged about one thing or another, usually immigrants all living in mansions paid for by us, while plotting to blow us all up. It cannot be good for the health of elderly people:).0 -
One of my neighbours has started reading it too. He's stuck a Conservative placard up in his garden too. I assume he'll be reporting for voluntary work along with his bone idle teenagers if they get in, along with handing back his council house and removing his eldest's boyfriend (and father of her second child) back to his country of origin.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I would payless view that this could be an illegal immigrant who has "borrowed" identities to get NHS treatment could very well be true as it is a well known scam to get free treatment. i.e. go to a different surgery and register for a new doctor using someone elses name and say you are about to move near to the surgery as most places are often so slow in phoning patients after tests that often if they phone up they get results first.Approach her; adore her.
