OP
Think very carefully before getting into a contract with a letting agency, their main aim is to take as much money off you as possible as often as possible.
I have rented around 10 properties over the last 8 years and always found agencies a nightmare to deal with. They don't give a damn about you the property or anything else just as long as you pay the rent. There was 1 agency that was ok to deal with but it was a local not a national one.
£30 for credit check? Complete rubbish they have never checked my credit reports for anything, a quick £30 quid profit for them.
£800+ deposit? They will do their utmost to keep as much of it as possible when you leave your property, lying about reasons they keep it is second nature to them.
£200+ agency fees for what? To print off a tenancy agreement they get free off the internet and hand you a key. Big deal, total scam!
Maintaining any faults in your property? Forget it unless your flat is about to explode!
Giving the facts about utility charges before you move in? Forget it! It’s not in their interest to tell you you’re going to be paying a fortune in bills.
Most letting agencies just lie! Lie! Lie!
Private land lords are far easier to deal with are mostly honest and want decent tenants. Willing to negotiate on rents and other stuff, round like a shot when something’s wrong.
Forget what people say about private land lords I’ve never had any trouble with them, it's not in their interest to !!!! you off.0 -
Agreed about the private landlords but trying to find privately let properties when I am not around the local area is like pulling teeth. If anyone knows of any in Aylesbury and surrounding areas let me know0

I had a similar problem. I had to relocate due to job and rent my house out. My new company wouldn't give me a referece till I had actually started my job
Despite my old job and new job being in exccess of £40k I still had to get my parents to act as gaurenter, which I found totally ridiculous.
Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
Yeah I have my contract of employment which I am going to use as evidence of employment but that must really annoy you.0
