in Credit cards
closed my cc with them in june paid the full balance off. however there system took £186 off my current account via direct debit yesterday. whoever closed my account down forgot to turn a switch or there system is screwed. strange that my balance was zero but they took £186.
I spoke to a nice lady on the phone she said indeed it was an error and the amount would be put back into my current account.
Moral of the story is check your bank statments.

If the OP had done this though, Mint's automatic systems would have put a late payment marker on his/her credit file, and added a default charge to the account, when the spurious payment couldn't be collected.kingkano wrote:moral of the story. when you cancel your credit card, logon to your online banking and cancel the direct debit as well. then they cant take anything.....
Yes, I know both could have been subsequently removed - but not without incurring hassle and delays to other applications.
Far better, in my opinion, to leave the DD 'active' for a few months and use the direct debit guarantee to address any issues that arise.0
