Exchange Delayed Until Monday

We were due to exchange on Thursday and for various reasons our buyer wasn't ready.He was still trying to get a reduction on price on exchange day.
As it turns out he was ready Friday but our solicitor decided to take a day off without informing us and didn't leave any instructions to his colleague.
We now have to wait til Mon.
What I wanted to ask is that we were informed yesterday that our buyer has signed his contract as have all parties and he has now paid his deposit to his solicitor and no longer wishes to negotiate any further and will pay agreed price, according to his solicitor.
Should we able to say the sale is pretty safe now or am I being too optimistic?
He is a BTL so we did expect some wrangling over the price but it was never ending....:rolleyes:

The fact that he has paid his deposit, signed and apparently given up trying to renegotiate would indicate that he is going ahead, chase your solicitor on Monday first thing.0
