help with amex nectar

i am have been trying to save money and since there's no sainsbury nearby i never thought about nectar card. looked at their website but they same to have amex nectar as well. is nectar card a loyalty card just like tesco's or is it a credit card?

please help... i don't want to get in more trouble than i have already.

Nectar is a loyalty scheme just like Tesco clubcard that gives you money off your Sainsbury's shopping etc. and where you earn points for shopping.

The Nectar Amex card is an Amex credit card that rewards you with Nectar points for making purchases. It is only realy worth getting for purchases in Nectar sponsor stores (like Sainsbury's) where the equivalent cashback is 1%. At all other stores you only get 0.5% and you can get better rewards from other cards.

If you are going to go down this route then go thru Quidco or direct from the Amex Nectar site as you can get £35 pounds cashback from Quidco and 5000 free Nectar points as opposed to the 1000 free points on the Nectar Site for their Amex Nectar card !!!!
