The other thing is that if you open new accounts and someone decides they don't like and they know you were banned they could easily report you for being a banned member. As Soolin said its a risk and ebay will close accounts with the most minor possible link to a banned member. Then its up to you to prove its not0

Perhaps their date of birth might be a big clue?????????
Ebay never asked me for a birth certificate, so how would they know a person's date of birth?

How can ebay connect a person called John Smith, ebay username johnsmith5678, from Birmingham with a bank account with the Nationwide and a Tesco internet connection, to a person called John Smith, ebay username johnsmith7896 from Manchester with a Lloyds bank account and a talktalk internet connection?

You will be suprised the length ebay and paypal go to link accounts. If you are using the same ebay templates or using the same photobucket account etc they will catch on eventually. Each time you visit ebay a trace is left on your computer so using the same computer is also a big no even if the ip address is changed.
Anything and everything associated with the old ebay account needs to go!0 -

Exactly, the OP said he was kicked off 3 years ago and has moved therefore his address will be different, his IP address will be different, possibly his ISP is different, all it needs is a new bank account, a variation on his name, re-install his computer etc, it can be done.
I have 2 ebay accounts and they have never been linked.

Not to your knowledge. However, you don't generally find out who is linked to who until Ebay pull the plug. Trust me, I've been pulled for having purchased a computer from a firm who went into administration - they were removed from Ebay when their business partnership disolved. Different town/name/isp and even with a new harddrive. It took a good month of faxing documents to the States/phone calls and head banging on walls, to have me reinstated. After that, I sometimes feel I am walking on eggshells.0 -
How do you know? Have you done anything wrong on the accounts? You may not know untill they close you down.I have 2 ebay accounts and they have never been linked.

As I said earlier it doesn't need a big link just someone to report you. Or some transaction that goes a bit wrong and ebay do some digging and then close the accounts. The post Soolin was on about earlier someone had been trading as a business for 5 years eay then suddenlty tracked an old account they had been banned fron (at a different address etc) So there accounts where then all frozen.
The most obvious way ebay can find out is via your paypal account that is linked.
So yes you can trade for a while on second accounts under different adresses etc. But as has been pointed out at some point they could and probably will get frozen.0
