Streaks on Samsung TV - Out of Warranty?

Hi Everyone,
I've got a Samsung LCD TV that is almost 2 years old and although it's over the 12 month warranty am I right in thinking that I may still be able to have a claim to get it fixed.. I seem to remember that although there is a 12 month warranty the product should be able to last longer than this.
I could be completely wrong but if anyone could advise that would be grand.
