How to contact bidder before end of auction?

Hi,
apologies if I'm being thick here but I am trying to contract a bidder on an auction of mine which is running currently. The reason is, it's a reasonably high-priced item (a car) and the current highest bidder has 0 feedback and joined eBay only a few days ago (before the auction began, it must be said.)
I don't have any issues with new bidders with 0 feedback but I would like to be able to drop them a line just to check their bona fides. eBay is preventing me from contacting them because I don't have any 'open transactions'.
I understand why eBay might block communication like this but in this instance it's a bit of a pain for me. Is there anything I can do, short of cancelling the bids from this person?
TIA,
HW

I hope you haven't got paypal enabled on your listing (you don't have to with cars) if you have try and edit it out of the listing as its a scamers delight on cars. You will not be able to contact the bidder unless they have items for sale. If your that worried cancel there bid and block them0

No, there's no PayPal! Cash only. Looks like I'll have to cancel their bids then.0

Hi you can contact the bidder, click on their id in the bids section, then left hand side of next page that comes up is contact member.0

No, it will not work. This is the message I get:0

It reads more like a message you'd get when trying to contact an under bidder after the auctions finished. Is the auction still running? I've never had problems contacting anyone bidding on my stuff.0

Try doing it this way ... can't guarantee it will work though ! :-)
type http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/**** into address bar - replace **** with their username... then use 'Contact member' link on the left side.
Include the details of your auction in the body of your message.
Hope it works ! :-)
Or try advanced search - Search by bidder - type in their username - when it brings up details, click on their username rather than the auction - which should take you to their myworld page, then as above.Google is my friend ..... :j0
