You're going to struggle without a proof of purchase. Do you still have the box? Might have something in there, or a receipt or stock tag taped to it.
  • yeh i have the box, what would i need to do / say to them?

They'll have it on the system.

When you call up the Tech Guys about the fault (0844 800 6020 - no idea if there's a free alternative, sorry), they'll get it up from your postcode. Although, being a Samsung, you'll probably go through to them and either they'll see by the serial number it's within warranty, or ask you to send a copy of the proof of purchase - which you can get a copy of from the store.

at worst you will have to go to samsung for a warranty repair. However without POP you have almost certainly lost all your rights under the sale of goods act, so for once i recommend taking out an extended warranty with domestic and general or someone similar to protect your investment.

Will be an expensive lesson otherwise if it breaks again
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

I really don't think it's as bad as everyone else makes out.

With your postcode and surname, I'd find it in 10 seconds (don't post or PM, I'm not at work!)

Provided the OP gave their own postcode and name. I know someone who didn't to avoid TV licence people.

Fair point, you have to give your name and address when buying a TV don't you? So they should have a record of the purchase.
