Ex playing games with the roof over our heads

Please could you see attached thread on relationships board and advise?? Especially regarding the deposit; how do I go about the deposit? Would ex need to wait for his half when I move out of the house or will the LA ask me for his half when he comes off the tenancy?

    I have been quite outspoken on the relationship aspect on the other thread - in all fairness to izzybusy, on this thread, just deal with the housing issue - leave the relationship issue to the other thread.

    I would suggest that you contact the landlord direct and have a discussion with them about staying in the property and signing a new tenancy agreement on your own. The one thing that landlords hate is a void period between tenancies where they are not receiving any rent, finding new tenants also costs them money and they won't have to pay the agent's fees to carry out your check-out or any new tenant's check-in should you remain in the property. Result all round. They might be agreeable to you only offering your half of the original deposit and paying an additional amount per month to make up the balance. You never know, they might be amenable, especially if you've been a good tenant to date. If you don't ask, you definitely won't receive.

    Would be helpful to have a summary concentrating on the housing issue and cutting out the relationship stuff. I tried reading it to offer advice but it's hard to get to the point and figure out exactly what the original poster wants to achieve.
