printing price lists

I have developed my price list for my make up artist business, can anyone recommended a place to get them printed? x

  • One very big question, how many do you want printed and the other question how much do you want to spend ..

Unless you already know, in technical terms, what you want in terms of paper and finish, I always think it's worth going into a few local print shops to discuss your requirements. Mine always has a board with samples of recent work on display, you can 'feel the width' of the different weights of paper, look at the difference between a gloss and a silk finish, see what the impact of coloured ink over coloured paper is, and so on.

You may also want to consider getting a smaller number done first, to see how things work out. Nothing worse than printing 6000 and finding a typo, or realising the information has gone out of date when you've only used 600.

Thanks guys, haven't really thought about a number, do you think 500 is a sensible number to start with? I have absolutely no idea of costs - how much I should spend?!

  • Things you will need to think about are these ..

    1. are you gonna design your self or are you gonna ask somebody to do it .
    2. have you got your prices done.
    3. is the price list gonna be folded or not.
    4. what size do you want it to be on.
    5. are these internal use or for customers when they visit etc

How many do you intend to send out in the first week / month / year? How often will your prices / products change? How long is a piece of string?

Sorry, but there are some things only YOU can decide!

Depending on how often you feel you will be changing your prices and how big the price list you could consider getting business cards printed i.e. both sides. You can get these done in both large or small qty's.

Also if not already, get yourself at least a one page website with your price list on.

In fact putting your price list on a website and NOT a printed sheet is probably the way to go UNLESS you can guarantee that your prices won't change regularly. And that way you can do targeted mailings when you have something particular to say. And give out business cards with the website on. Everywhere you go ...

And before you ask about costs for business cards, again I'd say look locally and feel the width!
