Hi today i smelt really bad burning in our kitchen..panicked thinking it was the fridge then the washing machine as they were the only things on, then i looked at the boiler and it had gone out..screen blank, box on wall off.
I rung a plumber who came out a few hours ago. He said a part had burnt out and blown the fuse, he changed the fuse and managed to reset the boiler to just work for the hot water and suggested that we left the heating part as the weather is getting better. I asked for a price on the part and he said £117 plus vat and labour comes in at £160 give or take. We could look oursleves though if we wanted.
Dh said we will look around..us and the plumber are both away in the next couple of days so won't get done for a few days anyway. My poor sister is moving in for the weekend so hope it doesn't suddenly get very cold!
So we have searched and nothing..the part is:
GLOW-WORM (Book says 24cxi, 30cxi and 38cxi)
Part no: 801192
Diverter Valve motor
GC Part No: E27211
Any ideas if we can locate this cheaper or is it just a case of paying him and getting it done? He is happy for us to locate it and then fit it and suggested Ebay etc.
Thanks.
EDIT: We have had this boiler from brand new and have lived here for 2.5 years..is this a normal thing to go after this amount of time?

More often than not the DV motor goes on these due to a water leak from the DV itself.
Call Glow Worm and ask how much for a fixed price repair.0 -

Hi there did seem to be a bit of water on one of the plugs inside it which the plumber noticed. He said it may have backtracked the water up but said it was odd for it to get wet.
I will call them now and see what they say thanks x0
