Bathroom - Hot Water Prob

Hey Folks!

I'm hoping you can help.

Yesterday my shower worked perfectly fine hot water wise.
This morning we had a blow out of lights in the living room, so i had to get in the fuse box and flick the switch. Lights soon came back on!
When i popped up to have a shower, the pully which turns the Hot Water on wasn't shining as if on, so i checked and it said it was on. Turned shower on and no joy, the water was cold. Gave it a few tries and the light never lit up and no hot water.

Thus, I had to dash to my parents for a quick shower!

What could the issue be? Is it related to the fuse blow out this morning?

Possibly. Is there a separate fuse for the shower? What kind of shower is it?

Electric, where the water is heated by the shower, though if it was this I don't think they work without electricity so if water came out it might be the heating element, power shower which uses pre heated water, or a shower head fixed on the bath taps?

    really need more info.

It's an electric power shower, the water is taken in cold and heated by the shower yes, in a true female way that is all i know really!

In an electric shower I used to have if the fuse blew there would not be any water as it needed electricity to operate the valve to let water through. So if water is coming through and not heating that could mean the element has failed.

check the dedicated trip for the shower on the consumer unit/ fuse board hasnt tripped. if it hasnt, would suggest checking the pull switch first. contacts in modern double pole pull switches are very thin and tend to burn out even if forgetfully left on for any length of time.

    Thanks for that!
My Dad is coming round later to have a look :T
I have checked the fuse box but nothing is labelled so can't determine what is what, although all switches are up.

The idea of the pull switch burning out seems very much possible!

Does the neon light on the pull switch illuminate when it is on?

Is there a seperate little fuse on the switch itself where the little light comes on?

There is a light on the switch, that does not now come on.

There is also another switch type thing that goes from either 'off' to a red blob, that is still working fine! This usually works in time with the neon light.
