Savemoney, your gardens are glorious!
Your back garden in the type I have always dreamed of owning.....naTural looking, varied and so, so very elegant.
I'm inspired, and will be officially stalking you for tips and advice!
Was fairly warm today so had to go out and give the flowerbed a good drink. Have a shiny new watering- can so really looking the part now!
Have noticed that the bush thingy that is growing nicely in corner of bed is going to flower. The buds are fairly large but therein lies the sum total of my knowledge of the poor thing.
Shall take a photo and post up tomorrow for positive ID;)There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
yes, the compost idea is a good one, I have always wanted to try along with a wormery.
Trouble is they have all types don't they? Wooden, plastic, blah blah blah.
Like the idea I can chuck so many things in it though, just hope the puppy doesn't think she can compost quicker and have the whole lot over. There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
Thanks very much. I did inherent the path but have improved it with wooden logs across the edge and most of the plants are mine
I lost a few plants this winter so garden a little bare
I now got some raised beds made to the left of the back garden picture. Planted some onions 12 days ago and now just coming through. Also planted carrots, spring onions, radish. I also have some seed potatoes to plant in some gloried shopping bags
Having a established garden takes time, but dont be fearful like I said before we all make mistakes. You will learn and as each year goes you do more
I spend most evening gardening just potting around this time of year, hell I even sit in garage
This is other side of my rear garden.
where the back pots are now I got 2 raised beds
Keep us posted look forward to your picturesSavemoney, your gardens are glorious!

Without a picture, I'll take an uneducated guess at rhododendron or azalea for your bushy thing, purely on the grounds that mine has large buds and is getting close to flowering. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

May I warn you....... gardening is addictive! I didnt get into gardening until about 6 years ago when we decided to rip out and relandscape the garden of our last house (we had been there 2 years at the time) I caught the gardening bug big time, and im afraid theres no cure! I started with 2 purpose built raised beds and planted easy stuff like lavender, heather, hebes and euonymous all low maintenance. I than got into ornamental grasses and ferns and lots of pots of stuff which led to huge amounts of bedding plants and a garden full of colour. i couldnt stop!
We have just moved to another house which has a good sized front garden in desperate need of attention and a back garden thats mainly lawn with a beautiful mature magnolia tree. Theres huge scope to redesign it as its a blank canvass and Im so excited at the prospect. 7 years ago I wouldnt have had any interest at all, but now.......... lol
This weekend Im spending planting up my potted ornamental grasses in the front garden, weeding the whole thing and mulching with gravel and pebbles. It will look lovely.
Youll soon get the gardening bug and youll be a novice no more, its just fabulous watching what youve planted grow into something beautiful. Enjoy!!0 -
well, now the wild flower bed is sprouting little green shoots so I am very happy with that! I am watering well am hoping it will end up looking as pretty as the picture on the box!
I have on a major scrounge from everyone I know that has a garden and have harvested lots of pots and pinched some plants here and there. I think I may have missed the boat for some of the veg seeds I had, I had trouble getting hold of seed trays and it was all rather hectic with the workman in the back garden.
I am still waiting for my parkers delivery for the plug wotsits I bought. I am planning to go to a few garden centres at the weekend to get some bedding plants.....no more seeds for me, I don't have the patience to watch them grow.
I have a massive decked area at the foot of the garden-space for lots and lots of pots and and I am wondering what I should buy to put in them? I am big on colour and but they need to be easy to look after otherwise I will kill them, I'm that useless you see. Can anyone suggest some easy ones that look pretty and can hold their own with the help of water and prayers??
Lastly, I am really keen to have some lavender too, I love it and would like quite a lot of it if possible. God's teeth, there are so many different types, how do I know which one is best for me?
Just one other thing, I have another bed that I need to fill but would like it have something in there that grows pretty high because the neighbours' fence looks like they have tried to drive a car through it. Any suggestions for something tall, pretty and easy?
Thanks and sorry for so many questions! There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
