Royal Mail charges

If like me you arent often at home when the postie calls (being as it is usually well after midday) you will no doubt have received one of those jolly red and white cards thro your door at some point. The ones that tell you that he/she was unable to deliver your parcel as it was too big/needed a signature etc etc. Well it USED to be that RM would re-deliver it to your local Post Office for you to collect for the princely sum of 50p. However, I discovered today that this has now been increased to £1.50 :mad::mad::mad:

!!!!!!??? 200% inflation :eek::eek:

I told the nice man at the end of the phone that he can re-deliver it to our house on saturday. I only hope the chocolate bunnies havent melted by then.

    i posted about this weeks ago and i agree
    unbelievable rise
    at the time i wondered ifit was to reduce the number of call and collects but keep the revenue the same.well as long as at least a third still did it
    and remember that is £1.50 per item
  • i didnt know this, i often used the 50p delivery thing and even at that price i used to wonder why they would make the postman carry it to my house again for free but wouldnt move it to a post office?
    anyway i would not pay £1.50 on top of all the other costs everyone pays when ordering something just to have it delivered again.

    Has anyone contacted royal mail about this?

    in what sense?
    they set the charge so your not telling them anything they dont know
    nobody is forced to use the service (in certain areas items are left at PO's and those are not charged for)
    in fact RM are extending opening hours for their delivery office opening times
