I checked my credit record via annualcreditreport and it says I have no searches to my record.
What companies do leave a "footprint"? Do I need them to get credit
I have one store card and one credit card (but the credit card is only a month old and not showing on record - how long will that take to update?)

Some searches do not leave a footprint.
It can take up to a month for something to show.
You want as little footprints as possible.
Lenders/CC's want to see how well you manage your credit.
Just to build a good record it is even good to have a monthly mobile phone on Direct Debit and just to keep your record updated as everything older than 6 years falls off the record to move mobile phone companies as it brings up a new record, which benefits your score.

Forgot to mention
some lenders leave a hard footprint and some a soft one.
Its too complicated to explain and not even some lenders can do it.
But the more footprints at any one time might mean to a potential lender that you are looking for lots of credit, so might then refuse you credit.0 -
I have a store card from November 05, Credit card July 06 - so those searches may appear later?
I have a mobile contract c/o me - it was originally in my mum's name as I was 16 when I got it. So it may be worth cancelling and getting a new contract in my sole name?No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Like I said some lenders do not leave a footprint, some soft and some hard.
Yes, it would be good to look for a new better deal to build your credit record.
if the cc from Nov 05 does not show then it was probably a soft footprint and will not show at all.
The other one might still show up.0 -
I thought it may be as it was a GE Debenhams collegue card, so I guess they knew my income directly.
Thanks, will get my own mobile contract when it expires. I avoided doing it last year as they throw lovely offers at you for renewing, but this will be better in the long run I think.

This credit reference agency seems very new. Have you tried the more established credit reference agencies here ?
The coverage of the scheme on the homepage does not appear comprehensive at this time. The site will be financed by lenders paying commision for users directed to them by the site. The more users they get the more advertising they will get.
