Hi all!
Please help me... I've just got virgin wireless on my Samsung NC10 netbook running XP. Since last night I keep getting XP smart security 2010 constantly telling me I have security threats on the computer:(. Since this started happening alot of my programs wont open. I really dont know what to do. I have no money at the moment
so cant afford to buy a new antivirus for the computer but I dont want to wreck my computer. I'm not very good with computers and was wondering if anyone could help me please. I followed a friends advice to get the free spydoctor which scanned and came up with loads of virus's but it wont get rid of them because it's the free version.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If you are on Virgin then PC Guard should be available to you as a free download.
Meantime you could scan with Trend Micro House call, and download and run malwarebytes antimalware.
Microsoft Security Essentials is also free. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hi thanks for the quick reply.
I'm currently awaiting my virgin email address to be able to get the PC guard. I have Microsoft security essentials but it's not detecting anything. I've just tried to download AVG 9.0 free as recommended in the antivirus sticky thread on here. firefox says it's downloaded but then when i go to open it to install it says application not found after i press run.
Sorry i'm really stupid with things like this have no clue what im doing really!:T trying to get back on track! Proud to be starting my debt free wannabe journey

download and run "Remove Fake Antivirus" from http://download.cnet.com/Remove-Fake-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10915342.html and that should sort it out, if not post again0

Since you already have Microsoft security essentials do not install AVG 9.0(only one antivirus should be used)
Keep Malwarebytes anti malware for future use but remember to update each time prior to scanning.0
